The game’s flow and structure would not work on anything other than the Nintendo DS, not because of any hardware-specific features like the touch screen, but 358/2 Days was meant to be played literally over a year, with the game having you chipping away day by day.īecause of that, the game didn’t have players traveling between worlds, but instead had them engaging in often repetitive missions. New players should be able to experience these story moments first hand, just like the rest of the games. On top of that, the key dynamic of Roxas, Axel, and Xion is the cornerstone of 358/2 Days and should not be reduced to the cutscenes that we have now. This is mostly due to the game taking place concurrently with the first Kingdom Hearts game and Chain of Memories. The main reason why 358/2 Days should be revived is due to the significant plot elements that are introduced in the game and how much it affects the rest of the franchise. So why is that? Why, even after 12 years, this somewhat important part of the franchise has not been revisited since the Nintendo DS? Featuring a simplified version of the franchise’s action RPG battle mechanics, the game has not received the same remastered treatment like the first three games in the franchise did, with fellow Nintendo DS entry Re:coded also relegated to mere cutscenes in the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 and 2.5 Remix remasters.
